(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Months after a popular Wrigleyville dive bar was burglarized, its owners are reflecting on the damage and the wait for closure.

Nisei Lounge at 3439 North Sheffield has had a unique piece of decor outside since September of 2023 when the bar was burglarized in the early morning hours.

The decor is a piece of plywood that stands where a front window, shattered in the break-in, once stood.

Nisei owners have said they refused to fix the window because the court case was taking some time to resolve.

The suspect reached a plea agreement last year, in which they also admitted to breaking into Cubby Bear, Sluggers, and HVAC Pub.

They say officials said on social media they were “satisfied with the outcome though would much prefer we never had been burglarized at all.”

While owners say they would have accepted court ordered restitution, they are now getting quotes for how much it would cost to make the repair.
