Police on the East Coast are investigating the murder of a 26-year-old Yale graduate student who grew up in Chicago.
At the top Kevin Jiang’s Facebook page are photos from Jan. 30, documenting his proposal to his fiancee.
“She said ‘YES!’” he posted.
A week later, he was dead after being shot multiple times. He was found near his car, which reportedly had rear-end damage.
Police in New Haven, Connecticut, say they have developed information suggesting that Jiang’s killing may not have been a random act.
Jiang’s Facebook page also shows photos of himself and his father in Chinatown in Chicago, outside St. Therese Chinese Catholic School.
“Visited Chinatown where I grew up and attended elementary school,” Jiang said in a caption.
The school has issued a statement, mourning the death of Kevin Jiang, saying, “We extend our condolences to his fiancee, family and friends during this heartbreaking time.”
A Go Fund Me page has been set up for funeral expenses. Jiang was an Army veteran.
