Swift and English actor Joe Alwyn dated for approximately six years when Entertainment Tonight broke the story that they had quietly split. This came as a shock to fans, who had long supported the private couple. There has even been a fan-frenzy to go back and analyze if Swift had hinted at the break up with her famous easter-eggs of hidden meanings. Despite the massive surprise for outsiders, the break up was “not dramatic” and their relationship “had just run its course” according to the ET source.

Returning to her sold out tour in Tampa, Florida, Swift struck a great balance by being overall tight-lipped while still acknowledging the story. She immediately addressed the news in her welcome to the crowd, coyly joking, “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?”

She also appeared to switch out her hopeful romantic hit, “Everything Has Changed” with “Holy Ground,” a song reminiscing on an unsuccessful relationship. The setlist otherwise remains the same, still including songs inspired by the relationship and even co-written with Alwyn, such as “Exile” and “Champagne Problems”.

Though, as far as Swifties are concerned, these subtle references are like sirens. Nonetheless, it appears that Taylor herself is handling this breakup without the dramatics by focusing on her tour and future. In fact, she was seen leaving a recording studio in NYC recently, so maybe something is in the works.

This news cycle won’t stop Swift- the (sold out) show must go on!
