The Trinity Girls Network recently hosted its 3rd Annual Girls Empowerment Day at the Georgia State Capitol. The young girls had an opportunity to meet the governor and tour the legislative buildings. During the event, featured speakers; Pat Houston, sister-in-law of the late Whitney Houston, V103/WAOK News Director Dr. Maria Boynton, Biologists Dr. Shaken Day, and Georgia State Representative Billy Mitchell all shared motivating stories and encouraged the young ladies to love themselves.
Trinity Ambassador Pat Houston, sister in law of the late Whitney Houston and founder of the Marion P. Foundation, is a great supporter of Trinity Girls Network. During the event, Houston encouraged the young girls to embrace themselves, love their hair, and the skin that they are in, and she also gifted the girls with a signed copy of her book called “A Better You.”
Houston spoke with me about why it was important for her to be there, what the Whitney Houston would have felt about her efforts to empower you girls, and so much more!
V103/WAOK’s News Director Maria Boynton also spoke and inspired the girls with her personal story.
