The anti-abortion law passed in Georgia last year is being ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. According to the district court Georgia’s law is in direct conflict with the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision.

Governor Brian Kemp signed the so-called 'heartbeat' measure into law in May 2019.  It banned abortions after a fetal heartbeat was detected. Medical experts said that usually occurs around 6-8 weeks after conception. The ACLU filed a lawsuit.

Similar laws in other states are also being challenged.
