2019 Nissan Armada
Bob Jackson | Entercom Atlanta

Nissan put a lot of meat on these bones.

Even the base "SV" comes with a big, burly 5.6 liter, 390 HP V-8, 8,500 lb towing capacity, 18" alloys, a 7-speed auto, heated front seats, 8-passenger seating, 13-speaker Bose sound, a rear door alert, and intelligent cruise, emergency braking and forward collision warning…all for well under $50,000.   You can even add 4-wheel drive and still be right around the 50K mark.

Again, that's a lot of muscle…a lot of capability…for fifty thousand.

And if you want leather, a power rear liftgate, 20's, and all-around-view, it's only going to set you back a few thousand more.

Mileage is EPA rated at 14 City and 19 Hwy…subtract one MPG for 4WD…although we almost hit 20 with our test 4WD on a road trip.

Now in its third year, Nissan's Armada has earned a reputation for capability and value.  In fact, the automobile industry's "Bible", Kelly Blue Book, rates Nissan's Armada as having the lowest cost-to-own over your first five years of ownership.

And back to features, if you want to take your Armada from "blue jean dress" to "tuxedo", there's always the option column.

Two-tone luxury leather, puddle lights, tri-zone entertainment, remote start heating and cooling, parked car finder, Alexa assistance, a "TV" view rear-view camera option, all-around overhead view, the ability to find sushi in a strange town, the ability to put speed and boundary alerts on your teen-age drivers…even blind-spot intervention that'll automatically apply your brakes and nudge you back into your lane…it's all available from the Armada's options list.

And even if you check off virtually every option available and select highest-level "Platinum Reserve" trim, you'll still be in the $60's.

But again, however you equip your Armada, you'll have room for 7 or 8…23.6 cu ft of space in the rear with all the seats up…a whoppin' 171 cu ft with both rows down…and the power to tow a very decent sized boat or trailer…all for somewhere in the $50's or $60's.
