BREAKING NEWS: All Criminal Charges Against Empire Star Jussie Smollett DROPPED

All 16 charges against Empire star Jussie Smollett, who until very recently was facing the threat of imprisonment, have been dropped, according to TMZ.

Details are light, but for now TMZ is reporting that Smollett and his lawyers went to court today, where the actor and singer surrendered his 10,000 bond. After that, according to a statement from Smollett’s lawyers, his record was “wiped clean.”

One particularly interesting line from the lawyers’ statement is this: “He was a victim who was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public, causing an inappropriate rush to judgment."
