Auto NSider | 2022 Infiniti QX 60 LUXE AWD
I’ve been working out…and it shows!
What do I mean by that?
Well…the last QX 60 wasn’t a bad looker, but just like anyone who gets off the sofa and spends some time in the gym, Infiniti’s re-designed QX 60 has a sharper, leaner look for ’22.
What hasn’t changed?
Those soft leather-everywhere interiors that Infiniti is famous for. If you weren’t paying attention, you might think that you’re in one of those bespoke six-figure British vehicles.
On the outside you’ll see a much more tailored look. And at night I think you’ll really like those thin horizontal taillights.
Another change? No V-8. The QX 60 now has a 295 HP 3.5 liter turbo six and a nine-speed automatic. While continuously variable automatics have improved dramatically over the past few years, those of us who like to feel the downshift “kick” when you pull out to pass will enjoy this new setup. Plus you’ve got up to 6,000 pounds of towing power, too. Power is not an issue.
What hasn’t changed is the QX 60’s “garage-able” size. Roughly a foot shorter than Infiniti’s larger QX 80, the 60 still seats six or seven…with access to the third row made even easier with a tilting / sliding second row. And that slightly smaller size makes the QX 60 much more manageable in parking lots.
You’ll roll on 20” alloys and those in the rear will enjoy a huge panoramic sunroof…that is, when they’re not surfing down the road thanks to the QX 60’s Wi-Fi hotspot that lets everyone have it their own way.
But it’s in the driver’s seat where Infiniti really coddles you. In addition to your heated and cooled leather and 17-speaker sound, you’ll find heads-up displays, “look-around-the-corner” LED headlamps, Infiniti’s “PROPILOT ASSIST” which uses a combination of radar and cameras to keep you centered in your lane and at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, and you’ll appreciate Infiniti’s Intell Key. It almost knows what you had for breakfast…keeping track of all your favorite settings + locking / unlocking / starting / pre-warming / cooling etc.
Pricing start in the low $50’s. Our AWD LUXE version came in at $57,520 including transportation fees…and that gave us a vehicle that looked and performed like it could several thousand more.
