Auto NSider | 2022 Hyundai Sonata N Line
Have you ever been to the Masters Golf Tournament?
And just why would I ask a question like that?
Because if you had, you’d know that The Masters has a tradition of selling food and drinks at 1970’s prices.
Their famed pimento cheese sandwich? A buck fifty.
Turkey and cheese? Three dollars.
Soft drinks two bucks and beer for 4 or 5 dollars.
Unheard of these days…right?
And that’s what leads me to talk about Hyundai’s new Sonata N Line. It, also, is a darn good deal.
Just look at what you get for a hair less than 35 thousand: Let’s start with the 290 HP 2.5 liter turbo and an 8-speed dual clutch automatic. That’s good for a 0-60 time of less than 5 ½ seconds and you’ll still get an EPA rated 23 City and 33 Hwy MPG’s. We actually touched 34 – 35 on a couple of runs down the freeway. Fun to drive + excellent economy. Darned nice combination.
You’ll also get 19” black and chrome alloys, heated non-cow based “suede” sport seating, Bose audio, quad exhausts, a sunroof, special trim, LED lighting, and most of today’s expected safety features and alerts.
Oh…and you’ll also have it all wrapped in a quiet, attractive, roomy 5-passenger sedan backed by that 100K Hyundai limited warranty.
If you need the room, but don’t need all the performance that the N Line brings to the game, you can pick up a non-turbo Sonata SE in the mid $20’s.
As for me, I think the N Line is worth the extra 10K. It offers luxury and performance that just might cost 10 – 20 thousand more if it came from Europe.
