Atlanta news anchor Jovita Moore will undergo surgery on Friday to remove "two small masses" on her brain, according to WSB-TV.
The longtime journalist who has been with Channel 2 Action News for over two decades was shocked to find out about the tumors.
After noticing significant symptoms on Monday afternoon, Jovita knew something wasn't right and thought about seeking medical attention. Later that evening while in a grocery parking lot, she realized it was something more serious.
“I was walking. I remember walking across the parking lot and feeling like I wasn’t going to make it to the door. I was walking like in quicksand,” Jovita told WSB.
Jovita underwent an MRI and the scan revealed two small masses on her brain.
“And so we had to start then having a conversation about what that was and what that meant,” Jovita added.
Dr. Edjah Nduom, the neurosurgeon working with Jovita, says they're "crafting a plan" but cautions it's still too early to know the next steps. More will be known by Nduom and his team about Jovita's prognosis after Friday's surgery.
Jovita is preparing for the surgery at home around her family. The surgery is expected to have her sidelined from the WSB news desk for at least eight weeks. All of us wish her well as she is going through this difficult process.
