Atlanta Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell joined The Morning Shift live in studio today, talked about the depth of the Falcons’ cornerback room, and explained why he thinks the entire secondary brings “physicality" and “versatility” to the table.
“I think the thing that we all have in common in the backend is physicality. Clark [Phillips], Mike Hughes, myself, Billy Bowman, Xavier Watts, JB [Jessie Bates III], I can keep going but everybody has a knack for being physical. Everybody is smart, we can all play corner, safety, or nickel, we can move around, we got a lot of versatility with the guys in the backend where we can make a lot of plays, and I think that’s why the backend hasn’t changed much in the last couple years because everybody can do a lot.” Terrell said.
With the infusion of some versatile rookies in the backend in Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman Jr. the Falcons’ secondary is primed to be much improved, and if the Falcons’ pass rush and secondary can help each other out this season you can expect this Falcons defense to get a lot more sacks and takeaways this season as well.
