the Hawks' offseason started off with a bang. Early on the Hawks traded the longer rumored to be moved, John Collins, to the Utah Jazz. Since then, its been quiet on the southern front. The Hawks have made some moves that helped them get under the luxury tax and signed Dejounte Murray to a four-year extension. However, one could make the case that the Hawks have gotten significantly worse, and it has some people asking, "Is this it?"
Jon Chuckery voiced his frustrations with the franchise's moves, or lack thereof, to bring in player via trade or free agency to improve what was a disappointing roster last season.
So, are the Hawks content with running this roster back and expecting different results with Quin Snyder leading the team next season. Or, are they getting ready to make a big move? The Hawks cleared up some more cap space after trading away recently aquired player like Rudy Gay, Ty Ty Washington Jr., and Usman Garuba. According to social media, another starter could be on the move soon.
De'Andre Hunter recently cleared all photos off his instagram page and posted a photo of himself with his back turned to the camera with the word "ciao." In the age of social media players are using platforms to break news, voice their opinions, and much more. Is this recent post a sign of change to come?
The Hawks missed the window to sign an impact player in free agency, soa trade would have to be the path to bring another "star" to play alongside Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. Players like Pascal Siakam, Deandre Ayton, and even Zion Williamson have all been rumored as possible interest for Atlanta.
After their recent transactions the Hawks will have the cash and if Hunter's post is foreshadowing a move to come, they have a somewhat attractive piece and trade package they could offer to a team for a difference maker this year.
