Since being eliminated from Leagues Cup, Atlanta United has had some time to regroup in preparation for the back half of the season which will resume for them on August 20, when they take on the Seattle Sounders. On Tuesday, while talking with 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery, Atlanta United radio color analyst, Jason Longshore shared his thoughts on what he believes will be key for United to find success in the final group of play.
“For Atlanta United, it’s going to be avoiding poor goals given up,” Longshore said in response to Chuckery posing the question of what needs to happen for the club to do well down the stretch. As he continued to share his thoughts, Longshore pointed out the fact that United has not had too many struggles with finishing chances and that “they’re going to score a good number of goals. They’re going to score enough goals to win games. But where Atlanta United hasn’t won games or hasn’t gotten the draw in games, it’s because they’ve given up some bad goals and that’s got to get solve in these 10 games,” Longshore added.
Longshore continued to share with Chuckery that he believes Atlanta has developed a “style and way of playing” and essentially, the club has played well a good portion of the season, however “the goals that have been given up are not because of the identity or the style or the things worked on, on the training ground, they’ve been given up because of individual mistakes,” Longshore added.
