On Wednesday Andy & Randy were joined by Audacy NFL Insider Brian Baldinger who discussed Desmond Ridder getting his first career NFL start at quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons against their NFC South Rival New Orleans Saints and the challenges Ridder will face on the road this Sunday.
“They (Saints) basically have an NBA front line as a defensive line. I mean you know from Cam Jordan all the way over…you name a guy over there Davenport (Marcus Davenport), they are all 6’5, 6’6, 6’7 so just hands in his (Ridder) face,” Baldinger replied when asked what the biggest challenge Ridder faces against the Saints this weekend.
“How would you approach the game plan this week because obviously you don’t want to change too much it’s about running the football but would you do less read options than you would with Marcus (Mariota)?” Randy asked Baldinger.
“I’m not sure Randy because we have seen all of these guys get hurt. I mean everyone Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson you know Marcus (Mariota). I mean all these guys that are running a lot are getting hurt,” Baldinger replied.
“These guys (defensive players) are hitting as hard as ever and they’re hurting these guys. While it’s a part of what they do I would be a little cautious about running Desmond (Ridder) too much in this game,” Baldinger added.
