Ronald Acuña Jr. did not suffer a fracture after getting plunked in the shoulder during the first inning of Monday's second game in the Braves double header versus the Mets. The damage was felt throughout baseball, however, as Acuña continues to be the target of getting hit throughout his career in Atlanta.
Dukes & Bell say that Braves manager Brian Snitker needs to step up and set the tone for the team by having his pitchers retaliate.
“When one of my guys, especially a star, gets hit, I’m policing it by hitting one of their guys. We refuse to do this time and time again,” Carl Dukes explained.
“Snitker is of the old school too. You need to thump somebody on the Mets as soon as you can,” Mike Bell added.
Acuña has been the target of teams including the Marlins, Cardinals, and now the Mets on multiple occasions. The balance needs to be kept between an old school “eye for an eye” approach and making sure player safety is kept a priority in the game.
