FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – As the Atlanta Falcons get set to kick off a season where the team looks to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017, much of the excitement is based around a revamped defense featuring Pro Bowlers and one future Hall of Famer, Calais Campbell.

But Campbell told 92.9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell in the leadup to it’s Week 1 matchup, it’s not just the new players who are about to take the unit to another level.

“Grady [Jarrett] is about to have a monster year. He could have that DPOY [Defensive Player of the Year] year – at nose tackle,” said Campbell (15:38 mark in audio above), singing the praises of the legendary Jarrett who was with the team when it made it’s 2016 Super Bowl run.

“The system, and the way he works, how he knows how to take advantage of the moments that the system gives him – I think he’s going to have a monster year, a DPOY year,” Campbell reiterated.

New defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen is implementing a new scheme in Atlanta predicated around a big and powerful defensive line, which Campbell and Jarrett will be instrumental in making a success. And with the added pieces like Campbell, David Onyemata, Bud Dupree, rookie Zach Harrison and more, Jarrett’s production could age like a fine wine as he hits his aged-30 season in the NFL.
