The Atlanta Falcons are moving ahead toward the NFL draft with new head coach Raheem Morris, who for a long period of time was not widely seen as the man for the job by media and fans alike. There was a period of time where Bill Belichick was viewed from the outside as the primary candidate for the job.
We now know that not to be the case.
ESPN reported on Wednesday that the six-time champion coach was not even in the top three in the running for the job. A second meeting gone awry is alleged to be the final straw in taking Belichick out of contention. The alleged power dynamics at play were not able to be settled despite reporting that Belichick was willing to concede managerial control and just be a coach.
92.9 the Game host Carl Dukes urges Falcons fans to take everything you read and see in regard to this issue with a grain of salt. Dukes says the second meeting between the two parties was a legitimate discussion about the job and not a courtesy meeting.
Ultimately, we will never know the full truth. It probably lies in the middle of what has been reported and what has been kept behind closed doors. That’s usually the way things shake out when it comes to speculation over a hiring or firing.
