The questions are swirling following the Falcons’ 24-16 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday and particularly, regarding their offensive struggles down the stretch as they failed to reach the end zone on a potential game tying drive. On Monday, The Steakhouse with Sandra Golden and John Fricke, in for Steak Shapiro, had the opportunity to sit and speak with Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank as they broadcasted live from his Blank Center Celebrity Golf Tournament and were able to hear his thoughts on the team’s performance overall.
“Being an owner for 21 years, I would say things are always a little more complicated than what they appear to be,” Blank said in response to Fricke’s question in regards to how the Falcons can “fix” their issues on offense. Blank continued to give praise to the defensive side of the ball for Atlanta, however “we haven’t had the kind of consistency that we would like to see,” Blank told Golden and Fricke adding that Sunday’s loss highlighted the issue. And with many questions surrounded the play of Desmond Ridder on Sunday, Blank admits that while Sudany’s loss may have been one of Ridder’s worse performances of the season, he believes that the second year quarterback is “emerging, he’s growing, he’s getting better every week,” Blank said.
As their conversation continued, Blank reminded Golden and Fricke that there is still plenty of football remaining this season and despite what appeared to be a lack of a “tight business operation” on Sunday late in the fourth quarter on, regardless of where fault may lie, coaches and players are working to improve and fix their issues and he acknowledges that the Falcons have to “play better with more consistency on offense to be as competitive as we know we can be and we should be,” the Falcons’ owner added.
