An official deal has yet to be announced, but on Monday, it was reported the Atlanta Falcons would be signing Tua Tagovailoa, who was officially released by the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, and ESPN Senior NFL reporter, Jeremy Fowler joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and discussed why the Falcons may had been set to sign the former Dolphins quarterback during the NFL combine.
“I actually wasn’t all that surprised because I was at the combine and I spoke to an NFL head coach who was in the market for a backup quarterback and they just told me randomly, ‘watch for Tua and Atlanta,’” Fowler told Dukes and Bell and explained why he was not surprised when reports surfaced of the Falcons planning to sign Tagovailoa.
And while Fowler explained he was not able to confirm what the anonymous coach shared with him, as he spoke with more individuals in regards to players this past Monday, he learned Falcons president, Matt Ryan was “telling people that they’re going to sign Tua [Tagovailoa],”. On Monday, the Falcons announced the official signings of several free agents, however as of this post, they have yet to report any official signing of Tagovailoa.
