Ever since the Atlanta Falcons announced that starting right tackle Kaleb McGary was going on the season ending injured reserve list, and that his backup Storm Norton is going to miss at least the first four games of the regular season they’ve been stocking up on offensive tackles.
The Falcons traded for Michael Jerrell from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a conditional 2027 seventh-round pick, and signed former New York Jets offensive tackle Carter Warren and former Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Ryan Hayes to their practice squad as well.
With Michael Jerrell, Carter Warren, and Ryan Hayes now all in fold earlier today The Morning Shift talked about which guy out of those three they think would be the best starting right tackle option for the Falcons right now.
“There is a lot of upside to Michael Jerrell. He is very athletic. I think he’s got some strength, but just in terms of right now if we’re talking about you know what are we eight, nine days away I would say the kid from Michigan.” former Falcons’ offensive lineman Mike Johnson said
Obviously all things considered Elijah Wilkinson is still the Falcons’ best option at right tackle for week one because he’s been with the team the longest, knows the offense the best, and still may be the most quality healthy right tackle the Falcons have at the moment, but once Ryan Hayes gets acclimated with the Falcons’ offense don’t be surprised if he’s competing with Elijah Wilkinson to be Atlanta’s starting right tackle until Storm Norton is ready to return.
