Hawks "have a sense of urgency" for 2022 season

John Collins says Atlanta Hawks approaching the season with a sense of urgency

The 2021-2022 Atlanta Hawks season had the feels of a rollercoaster as the team had its fair share of ups and downs, as they would eventually find themselves participating in the “play-in” game round of the playoffs, only to be eliminated by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs. After the 2020-2021 season saw the Hawks reach the Eastern Conference Finals, last season fell short of expectations many Hawks fans had for the team and as they looked for the reasons for the disappointing results, many could not help to refer to the reported attitude of some of the players heading into the season.

Most notably were the comments made by Hawks All-Star point guard, Trae Young, when he told reporters that the regular season was “a lot more boring than the playoffs,” and that often motivation to play like they are in the playoffs has to be found. On Tuesday, Hawks forward John Collins joined Dukes and Bell to discuss the upcoming season and they guys had a chance to ask Collins about the team’s mindset in approaching this season. “Can you give me a sense of urgency to start this season?” Carl Dukes asked Collins.

“We do. We have a sense of urgency. I feel like the playoff series, the one against the Heat, more than our run, gave us more perspective of what to expect,” Collins responded to the Dukes question.
Collins would continue adding that the Hawks now realize that other teams view them as a team they needs to be “knocked off”. Click link above to hear the conversation in its entirety.
