How Kyle Wright has stabilized Braves starting rotation

92.9 The Game Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes & Bell for his normal appearance to talk some Braves with the guys and talked about how has Kyle Wright stabilized the Braves starting rotation.

When asked about Wright’s performance so far this season.

“I feel like he’s been one of the top ten or fifteen pitchers in the National League at the very least, and if you go look at the strikeouts, the era, the wins, the old standard pitching triple crown categories he’s been one of the twenty best pitchers in major league baseball this year,” McAuley said. “You can throw wins above replacement in there as well because he grades out all across the board. He generates a lot of soft contact, he doesn’t walk very many hitters, he pounds the strike zone, he makes adjustments in games.”

McAuley talked about how Wright has stabilized the rotation.

“He has stabilized this rotation, he’s one of very few pitchers, I believe it’s half a dozen Braves pitchers since 2000 that have one ten or more games in the first half of the season. He has put himself in some pretty good, that’s a list that includes Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux and guys of that nature. If your name is on that list as a Braves pitcher you have done a few things right, if you’ll pardon the pun.”
