As the Atlanta Braves (39-29) continue to play red-hot baseball in the month of June, the Braves starting pitching staff is beginning to dominate on the mound.
One pitcher that has been key to this middle-of-the-season hot streak is RHP Ian Anderson (6-3, 4.35 ERA).
The Braves have won each of the last five times the 24-year-old Anderson has been on the hill for manager Brian Snitker, with the talented right hander pitching into the sixth inning or better in four of those starts.
When 92.9 the Game Braves Insider Grant McCauley was asked by Dukes and Bell about the performance of Anderson this past Sunday at Wrigley Field as the Braves snapped the quick two game slide they were on, Grant replied with some insight from the Atlanta manager.
“Brian Snitker talked about it before the game, getting him into the sixth and seventh inning consistently,” McAuley said.
McAuley followed that statement up by pointing out that Anderson and the staff will soon be facing some tougher opponents.
“The Braves starting rotation is about to be tested,” emphasized McAuley when referring to the next several series the Braves will have when they face off with the San Francisco Giants, LA Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies over the next two weeks.
Temperatures in the Atlanta area will be scorching over the next several days. The Braves are hoping the rotation can keep pace with the thermostat and keep this June surge rolling along.
