The L.A. Chargers have made their move on Jim Harbaugh, the Washington Commanders have reportedly hired Ben Johnson, and the Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with Brian Callahan while the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots have elevated Antonio Pierce and Jerod Mayo. Meanwhile, the Falcons have had a head coaching vacancy now for 17 days without making a hire.
The Falcons have interviewed more than a dozen different candidates despite the reports that Bill Belichick was the favorite for a few weeks. The indication is that the job is wide open and The Steakhouse wondered if he might have fallen out of favor in Atlanta.
"I think there's probably a snag in the mix," Steak said about what the holdup is in their search. "It could be the Rich McKay relationship. It could be how much power Arthur Blank is going to acquiesce to Bill Belichick."
As of now, the Atlanta Falcons were the only team with a vacancy that interviewed Belichick -- then they interviewed him a second time while no other team has interviewed him once. Since that interview, they have welcomed in several different candidates for additional interviews.
"He's not going to get [ultimate decision-making power] in Atlanta," he continued. "But if it goes south, there will be an expose written about how at the eleventh hour what came into play."
Assuming the commentary heading into the coaching search is true and that Arthur Blank wanted to hire a coach with previous head coaching experience, that leaves Belichick, Mike Vrabel, and Raheem Morris.
"Just follow the bouncing ball of who, what, when, where, and how," Sandra said. "You're hearing stuff, I'm hearing stuff that I'm not comfortable saying on the air, but I still think it's Bill Belichick and they're just ironing out the details."
