Becoming friends through their children, Lizzy shared "we met as mom friends, from our kids in pre-school which is random as hell... it's not like we're like 'hey, wanna' be my friend?' So our kids really connected and then we connected, and we were just like 'yo we're gonna be in each others lives for awhile looks like.'"

Their first two projects together sparked during the pandemic as they "created a content house like production company" and they "renovated all of the spaces to make it conducive for filming." And then they tore down Jessica's grandparents house and rebuilt it for her parents. The two year project together made them realize, "we should do a renovation show together."

Each of the six episodes feature a different family and Jessica and Lizzy come in to help renovate their homes to match their family's needs. "We're coming in also to talk to the families like we want to talk with them and hear what they have to say and really connect with them," Lizzy said.

Talking about balancing their work on this show while being mothers, both Jessica and Lizzy agree that their is no balance they just have to give themselves grace.

Jessica also opened up about the origins of her company, Honest, saying "twelve years ago I launched the company and basically I wanted to create a company that has the ethics and values that I live by, that I think a lot of people live by." Being the change she wanted to see, she said "people sort of feel like if you're going to build a business in corporate America, you have to leave your values and your ethics at the door, and I was like nope. We're going to do it different and really show up for people of color, especially, because we are effected the most by toxic chemicals and it's making sure there's transparency in the ingredients, that we also give back, and that we also have female leadership and we have a balance sense of leadership... the business of the future."

Revealing what Hip-Hop songs really turn them up in honor of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, Jessica said Too $hort's "Blow the Whistle" is her "jam."

"When I used to go and present at the Oscars and I was like doing all the red carpets and doing all of the things back in the day -- I would blast Too $hort, 'Blow the Whistle.'" For Lizzy, give her anything by JAY-Z, she's going to give you a strong head bang.

All six episodes of Honest Renovations are out now and check out the full conversation above for more.
