President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with Asian Americans during their visit to Atlanta Friday.

The meeting with the President, Vice President, and Georgia Asian American leaders will be private.

This comes on the heels of the shootings at three massage parlors in metro Atlanta this week. Eight women died in the shootings, six of them were of Asian descent. Asian American groups have called for an end to violence against their community.  According to police, the alleged shooter, a white man named Robert Long, said he committed the shootings because he has a sex addiction.

Biden and Harris are also scheduled to visit the Centers for Disease Control where the White House COVID-19 Response Team and federal public health officials will provide updates on the response effort.

Biden and Harris have been canvassing the country this week to promote the nearly $2 trillion relief package passed by Congress.
