The Hawks have been one of the talks of the NBA since making a splash move to acquire former Celtics star center Kristaps Porzingis and how he's set make a big on-court impact for a Hawks team looking to replicate (or improve) it's 2021 playoff run. Steak Shapiro said that if Porzingis is able to stay healthy be the difference-maker many expect, he will become a fan favorite and a star in the city.

Porzingis has shown his media chops in recent days with a featured interview published by the Hawks as well as joining 92.9 The Game's own Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael on The Midday Show. In the latter interview he admitted he didn't think of the Hawks as a contender to land him in a trade, identifying three other teams where he thought he'd go. Instead, Porzingis said he woke up confused to many excited texts containing eagle emojis - the closest thing to a Hawk his friends and family could find.

Ultimately, Porzingis spoke of his excitement to play with the Hawks's young core alongside fellow All-Star Trae Young. He highlighted the fact the Quin Snyder preaches team offense and sharing the basketball will make it easy for him to fit in the scheme. If all goes well, what Porzingis can do on and off the court will make him a star and a successful season for an exciting Hawks team.
