First Iconium Baptist Church in Atlanta is where a memorial service for Elder Cal Lester Merrell is being held at noon today. Known as 'The Happy Preacher' Merrell will be well-remembered for his exuberance during events in the city.
Merrell is remembered as being 'authentic'
According to First Iconium Pastor Rev. Timothy McDonald Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens will present the Phoenix Award to Merrell's family. It's the highest honor given by the City of Atlanta.
