The six-year drought is over: the New York Mets are headed to the 2022 postseason.
By virtue of their 7-2 win over the Brewers in Milwaukee Monday night, the Mets clinched at least a Wild Card berth, reaching 94 wins while giving the Brewers, currently the seventh team in the NL standings, their 69th loss.
The Amazins also maintained their one-game lead over Atlanta, who defeated Washington on Monday night.
The Mets are the second NL team to clinch a playoff berth – the Dodgers have already wrapped up the NL West – and third to clinch a berth, as the Astros clinched both a playoff berth and the AL West crown this past weekend.
In addition, the Mets are also now 6.5 games up on Central-leading St. Louis for the second bye in the Wild Card Round.
