Dr. Jayne Morgan says the Omicron variant won't be the last. Morgan is Executive Director for the COVID Task Force for Piedmont Healthcare.
As infections surge across the U.S. Morgan tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton that unvaccinated communities are driving the development of the variants.
The U.S. is now averaging 100,000 daily Covid infections according to Johns Hopkins University. The increase is from the Delta variant says Morgan. Infections from the recently discovered Omicron variant are being reported across the country with some 2,000 cases.
The Georgia Department of Public Health confirms 2 Omicron-related infections in the state. One of those is in metro Atlanta.
Dr. Morgan says people need to make sure that they are vaccinated "because at some point their luck is going to run out."
