Severe weather is expected to move through the ATL today. The storm system is expect to bring rains, winds that could reach up to 60mph+, and tornados.
National Weather Service reports, "Showers and thunderstorms before 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. High near 59. Southeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."
A number of metro Atlanta School districts have canceled or delayed classes ahead of the storm. Check out the list below.
Fayette County schools will have virtual learning day.
Henry County government offices closed, but essential employees are asked to report.
Coweta County School are closed. Facilities and maintenance staff are asked to report.
Newton County Schools will release early.
Dekalb County Schools will remain open, but all extracurricular athletic activities are canceled.
Clayton County is closed.
Fulton County will operate on a normal schedule.
Decatur will for normal operations, but after school activities and City of Decatur's Animal Crackers and Whiz Kids program for tomorrow is canceled.
Troupe County Schools are closed.
Strong Rock Christian Academy and Early Learning Academy in Locust Grove are closed.
Griffin-Spalding county schools are closed.
