On Monday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael were joined by 92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves reporter Joe Patrick who talked about the possibility of moving Will Smith out of the closer role.

“I think they definitely need to consider it. I think you are at the stage where if Will Smith isn’t enough of a lock-down guaranteed bet to the point where it makes more sense to try to play matchups and get your best matchups out there for the 8th and 9th inning,” said Patrick when asked if the Braves should consider Richard Rodriguez in the closer role.

“If it’s Will Smith pitching in the ninth inning that’s fine, he obviously has been doing that. But I think if you have a bunch of right-handed hitters coming up in the ninth inning, I think you should try to have a right-hander in there,” Patrick continued.
