The Atlanta Braves have named Spencer Strider as their Opening Day starter, not Max Fried as many had expected. Strider is viewed as a better Cy Young Candidate entering the season by most.
Spencer Strider was 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA and totaled 281 strikeouts, most in the majors, during the 2023 season. If the Braves keep the rotation without skipping any starts, that would put Max Fried in line to start the Braves home opener.
