"Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents need to check that bookbag before the student leaves," says Dr. Mike Looney. The Fulton County Schools Superintendent tells V103's the Big Tigger Morning Show that school safety is everybody's business. Schools reopen in less than 2 weeks.
Looney says the district is doing everything it knows to do to make sure students don't bring weapons to school, adding, "students shouldn't feel that they need to bring a weapon to school."
Fulton County Schools Mask Policy
When students return to school on Monday, August 8, school masks will be optional says Looney. He says they will utilize the same mitigation strategies as last year. "We've learned so much the last couple of years of Covid management. We were the first school district in Georgia to shutter our buildings because of Covid, but we've learned to deal with it."
