Taco Bell wants to rule lunch.
According to CNN, Taco Bell CEO Mark King told investors this week the fast food chain is looking into making the popular nacho fries a permanent item on the menu.

“People that go to lunch want to have French fries. We know that. We’re looking at and testing bringing fries permanently on to the menu, which would increase our lunch business dramatically,” the CEO said.
The nacho fries first appeared in Taco Bell stores in 2018 for a limited time. They’ve returned for brief periods since and are currently on the menu.
King said having the fries at all times would let the chain compete with McDonald’s in the lunch space.
“If you were to look at how we compete against McDonald’s in dinner and late night, we’re absolutely even. When you look at breakfast and lunch, we’re significantly behind,” King said.
At the moment nacho fries can come plain with cheese on the side or in a seven-layer option.
Earlier this year Taco Bell brought back its popular Mexican Pizza menu item after removing it during the pandemic. It’s now a permanent menu item because of its popularity.
Nacho fries could be next.
