The Atlanta Falcons have had a strong start to the 2024 regular season and have now won back-to-back games and three of their last four. After an offseason of upheaval, the fans are finally being rewarded with some wins.
To discuss the success of this year's team and the lessons of ownership, The Steakhouse was joined by the owner of the Atlanta Falcons, Arthur Blank.
Blank has learned a lot in his 22 years as the owner of the Falcons. One particular thing is how this league is built for parity, no matter the record of any given team.
"Over time, you realize that this ball is not round, so it bounces many different ways," Blank said about the league's parity and the seeming randomness of the sport. "You can find ways to win and lose games that you never thought were even possible."
As a result, Blank has learned he must take a longer view of the franchise and attack with patience.
"So, I think you have to take a longer view." He said, "You have to have more patience, I think, than what I originally anticipated."
In his earlier days, he said, Blank would have studied the schedule and would constantly be looking ahead to weeks down the line. Now, he's attacks each game on a week-to-week basis because of the unique challenge that every team presents.
Overall, he's been happy with the progress that 2024's team has shown in the early parts of this season.
"I'm thrilled with where we are, but we're 3-2 in what appears to be a very competitive division," Blank said. "It's a long season and we've got to keep competing and keep our heads down, keep humility in our work and we do that."
