Coming off an embarrassing 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Falcons are looking for answers as their offense failed to reach the red zone in Sunday’s loss and Michael Penix Jr. struggled to execute the offense effectively, finishing with 18 pass completions on 36 attempts for 172 yards and two interceptions.
On Monday, in effort to address some of their issues, the Falcons announced they would move offensive coordinator, Zac Robinson, from the coach’s box to the field, a move Morris says will help “clean up communications” between Penix Jr. and Robinson, which was apparent challenge throughout Sunday.
“The fact is we’ve had too many clock blunders already early in the season where either the play call’s not getting in and one our listeners said this and I agree, the offense is moving kind of slow,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes, said on Monday as he and John Fricke shared thoughts on Atlanta’s loss and Dukes believing the Robinson move is one Atlanta had to make.
“There were moments where Michael Penix Jr. was by himself,” Dukes later said as he took note of watching the second-year quarterback sitting alone following several offensive possessions. “Damn, no one’s going to talk to him,” Dukes said he found himself asking as he shared why he is favor of the Falcons decision on the Robinson move.
