The Atlanta Braves have suffered yet another injury to one of their key players. Yesterday the Atlanta Braves announced that Austin Riley underwent an MRI that revealed a right hand fracture, and that Riley is expected to miss approximately six to eight weeks. Now, with no Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, and even for the moment Travis d’Arnaud in the lineup it’s more imperative than ever that Matt Olson hits his stride for the Braves right now, and The Morning Shift talked about it earlier today.
“If there was a moment in his career with this organization where he could endear the fans to him more than ever and it’s not hitting 54 home runs, it’s none of that, it is the next month and a half for Matt Olson.” Beau Morgan said
Beau continued by talking about how this is the Braves first baseman’s chance to really show Braves fans that he is that guy.
“This is your moment though, this is that chance if there’s ever been one this next month and a half to step up and put this team on your back because I’ll tell you what Marcell’s back is probably a little tired, middle of August now.” Beau said.
This is the moment where guys like Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna, Michael Harris II, Sean Murphy, Jarred Kelenic, and the entire Braves’ lineup has to step when you have a guy like Austin Riley go down, but Matt Olson can tell Braves fans “I’m him” by leading that charge starting tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies.
