Braves success reflection of Alex Anthopoulos making 'right deal'

While the Atlanta Braves have the best record in MLB and currently lead the second place Phillies by nine games in the National League East, with the trade deadline just under two months away, there has been some speculation in regards to whether or not, Braves President, Baseball Operations and General Manager, Alex Anthopoulos will look to acquire a player to bolster the roster.

“I think what he has done a really good job of overall is finding the right moves,” Audacy MLB Insider and former MLB player, Tony Gwynn Jr. said as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell and explained why he believes Anthopoulos has proven to have a good understanding in making trades which benefit the team the best.

“It hasn’t necessarily been a move that knocks you out your socks, but going out and getting a guy like [Jorge] Soler that year. It wasn’t the loudest move but it turned out to be one of the biggest they made,” Gwynn Jr. said referencing the 2021 season in which the Braves traded for Soler, who would be one of the heroes in the Braves’ championship run that season.

“I think that’s the more important thing. Not that you have to go out and make a deal, it’s that you have to go out and make the right deal and I think Alex Anthopoulos has done that throughout his career as Braves’ leadership.
