Falcons' biggest Michael Penix Jr. concern is staying healthy
Since their 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons have received a fair share of criticism in regards to what factors led to being defeated. Whether Michael Penix Jr. needed to make better throws or the Atlanta defense needing to do a better job on the Ravens’ eventual game tying drive, Sunday’s loss has been analyzed in every which way imaginable.
And while Penix Jr.’s incomplete passes to Jake Matthews and Bijan Robinson on key possessions, have been the topic of discussion, 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell explained why they believe the bigger concern for the third-year quarterback is his ability to remain healthy for the entire season. “We still have to keep in perspective that this is only Michael Penix Jr.’s 15th start,” Dukes said.
“It’s not even a full season and it’s been broken up over the last three years. He’s still learning a lot on the job as talented as he is and the good things that we’ve seen. But the real question about Michael Penix Jr., and let’s just say it, it’s durability,” Dukes said of his concerns regard Penix Jr.’s injury history throughout his career, including the current rib injury he suffered on Sunday.Falcons dealing with Michael Penix Jr. rib injury
