Earlier today on The Morning Shift, Mike Johnson, Ali Mac, and Beau Morgan explained why they think the delayed return of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. means he must hit the ground running when he finally does come back and play.
“You’ve had all off-season, you had four or five, I’d say almost six extra weeks of being cleared to ramp up if you don’t come in and hit the ground running then that performance is going to count against you.” Beau Morgan said
If Penix Jr. doesn’t end up playing until week four then he’s not going to have a lot of margin for error, he’s not going to have a very long leash, and he will have to come in and hit the ground running to prove that he’s the Falcons franchise quarterback, and depending on how well Tua Tagovailoa plays while he’s QB1, Penix may just have an opportunity to lead the Falcons to the playoffs for the first time in eight years as well.
