Hawks putting full trust in Onsi Saleh
With the NBA season winding down as the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks battle for the Larry O’Brian Championship Trophy, the Atlanta Hawks are preparing for their first NBA Draft under Onsi Saleh, who was recently promoted from general manager to president of basketball operations and given a long-term contract extension.
“We’ve given Onsi [Saleh] one hundred percent the green light to do whatever he thinks is right to build this team,” Atlanta Hawks CEO, Steve Koonin said, as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained because of the belief the Hawks have in Saleh, they have given him full authority to make the decisions he believes are best for the franchise.
“Going into the tax is not a recipe necessarily to win,” Koonin said as he explained that while the Hawks have the ability to enter into the luxury tax should they feel the need to do so, there would be not guarantee the result would be a championship team. “If we have an opportunity to make our team better, going into the tax is an absolute non-issue,” Koonin said.Onsi Saleh soon to be on the clock to contiue building Hawks roster
