When you go to reach for a cold beer, are you grabbing America's favorite?
A recent poll by market research firm YouGov ranked the most popular beers as indicated by users of its website. To determine the title-holder of America's favorite beer, YouGov looked at nationally representative popularity scores based on favorability and knowledge of brands.
The poll found that despite a bevy of domestic choices, Americans really seem to have a taste for imports.
According to the poll, Guinness is the number one beer in America, favored by 50% of those who have tried it. A traditional Irish brew, Guinness maintains strong popularity in the South Atlantic region near its domestic base as well as in the West South Central region, according to YouGov.
Guinness barely edged out the nation's second-favorite beer, Heineken, which is favored by 48%. This Dutch lager is brewed and bottled in Amsterdam before being shipped to the US. In third place is the Mexico-produced Corona, which is favored by 47%.

Rounding out the top 10 are Miller, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, Bud Light, and Dos Equis.
The poll went a little deeper and looked at the results based on gender. While the top five list for men is comparable to that of the population as a whole, women have at least one different preference: Blue Moon.
