All-Star weekend may have just gotten a whole lot more interesting for Celtics fans.
No, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis weren't selected as injury replacements (yet). However, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, Jaylen Brown is "seriously considering" participating in the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.
Later this week, the NBA will announce the complete list of participants for the skills, three-point, and dunk contests, and according to Charania, Brown has been mulling the opportunity for "several" weeks and that it appears to be "very much in play."
If the three-time All-Star accepts the invitation, he would be just the fifth Celtic in franchise history to participate in the contest, joining Dee Brown, Greg Minor, Ricky Davis, and Gerald Green. Both Green and Dee Brown won the competition when they participated.
Green was the last Celtic to participate, back in the 2006-2007 season.
If Brown, who has 58 dunks this season, is to participate, he would undoubtedly bring excitement to the contest that has lacked star power in recent years.
This year's contest will take place on February 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts. Brown and Jayson Tatum are the Celtics' currently on the All-Star roster.
