Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon has responded to Jack Edwards’ comments about his weight, and done so in probably the classiest way possible.

For seemingly no reason whatsoever, the NESN Bruins play-by-play man took a couple digs at Maroon’s weight during Tuesday night’s Bruins-Lightning game, saying that he’s “had a few more pizzas” since training camp and that “inadvertent fasting [he meant intermittent] for Pat Maroon is like four hours without a meal.”
Maroon responded on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, opting not to rip Edwards nor demand an apology, but rather to make a donation in Edwards’ name.
“In support of those struggling with mental health, bullying and body image,” he wrote, “I am making a 2,000 donation in the name of @realjackedwards to @TampaBayThrives and I encourage @TBLightning and @NHL fans to join me. Donate here: http://Tampabaylightning.com/donate”
Tampa Bay Thrives is “a nonprofit assisting those struggling with mental health and substance use issues by providing navigation, access and awareness.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, Edwards has not yet responded to Maroon’s tweet.
