Cheetahs apparently have no chill.
Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill, who just joined the AFC East this season, took a rather on-the-nose shot at Bill Belichick and the Patriots for their history of drafting wide receivers in a TikTok skit.
In particular, Hill, who makes a cameo in the video, pokes fun at Belichick for the perception that the coach has…a type at the position. A stand-in for Belichick says Hill is “too fast” to draft after watching the receiver run a mock 4.21-second 40-yard dash and instead shows interest in “Kyle Hampton,” a white receiver who runs a 4.93: “He's a Patriot.”
Watch it here:
Okay, maybe that’s a little outdated after the Patriots moved up in the draft last year to take Tyquan Thornton, who ran the fastest 40 of any receiver in the draft last year (4.28), in this past year’s draft. (Of course, it’d be great if the Patriots made more of an effort to get him the football.)
But you can’t deny it’s a little funny, especially since just about every draft pundit and even fans make the same jokes every year about the likes of Kyle Phillips and Slade Bolden.
Though New England currently employs Jakobi Meyers and had Troy Brown dominating from the slot in the team’s first dynastic run, the stereotypical quicker-than-fast white slot guy in the mold of Wes Welker, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola was a fixture during Tom Brady’s golden years in Foxboro and has become something of a legend. That perception certainly seems to have stuck with the rest of the league, including with one of their newest rivals.
