Red Sox trade Franklin German to White Sox for minor-league pitcher

(670 The Score) The Red Sox have traded righty reliever Franklin German to the White Sox for righty reliever Theo Denlinger, the club announced Friday afternoon.

German, 25, was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Monday. He had a 2.72 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 43 appearances split across Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in 2022, when he also allowed eight earned runs in four innings across five appearances for the Red Sox at the big league level.

German has a 3.93 ERA across five minor league seasons. The Yankees originally selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Denlinger, 26, had a 4.47 ERA in 40 appearances for Class-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham in 2022. The White Sox selected him in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
