Hayley Mason of CBS46 (WGCL) worked her resources and was the first to publicly report on the racial breakdown of COVID-19 cases.
With mounting anecdotal evidence that African-American communities were being impacted more severely than other communities, it became a priority for many that this data be reported.
More alarming than the data clearly showing Blacks are more likely to contract and die of coronavirus, is the amount unknown data. Over 60% of racial data was not collected. Healthcare professionals are now trying to go back and properly classify individuals.
