Dr. Rashad Richey and Dr. Valda Crowder (Dr. V) discuss how coronavirus is affecting urban communities and prisons. Dr. V shares with Rashad that as a medical professional she tracked COVID-19 in January and began preparing for its impact at that time. Dr. V explains to listeners that many urban communities fall victim to becoming medical deserts because many hospitals or medical centers are more than 30 minutes away from these areas. Dr. V says conditions are not any better in prisons, she tells Rashad that while prisoners are being tested, personnel are not.
