Dathan Thigpen and Latrice Pace, both performers in the annual holiday production, "Black Nativity: A Gospel Musical Christmas Experience" by Dominion Entertainment joined On Point with Juandolyn Stokes to give listeners a taste of what's to come beginning today, Dec. 7- Dec. 17 at the Ferst Center of The Arts on the campus of Georgia Tech.
"We're giving yall a real show. The amazing thing about being in it is the recasting because that person takes on the story in their own way," said Thigpen.
"We have a variety of vocal interpretations," added pace.
According to Thigpin, there are also new dancers and interns representing a plethora of generations and it's amazing to see how it all comes together.
Thigpin and Pace agree that it is always great when you can do something you love.
"I felt it when I auditioned nine years ago, " said Thigpin.
Pace said, "I remember my older siblings doing it when I was a teenager. It's our calling."
Pace plays Sister Frankly and Thigpen plays the nephew. The actors agree that Black Nativity is important to the Black community to keep our stories alive, our culture, and our heritage.
